Insititut Français d’Égypte à Alexandrie
31 October 2021
The EGYLandscape Project is pleased to announce a call for applications for a training day to be hosted by the project, in cooperation with the Centre d’études Alexandrines, on 31 October 2021 at the Institut français d’Égypte in Alexandria. The call is open for all graduate students (MA, PhD, and recent PhD). The training day will cover topics including: the use of a variety of sources for the study of Middle Egypt; maps and GIS mapping as a source for the environmental history of Egypt, especially the Western Delta; and mapping and archaeological surveying for the study of Lake Mareotis. See the linked program for a detailed plan of the day. DOWNLOAD THE PROGRAMME.
All graduate students interested in Egypt’s environmental and/or medieval, early modern, and modern history are encouraged to apply. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, a limited number of places are available. As such, the project asks all applicants to submit a CV and a 250-300 word essay of interest – please express here your research interest and how the training sessions will be beneficial. All sessions will be in English and Arabic, so applicants should have command of both languages. Coffees and a light lunch will be served.
