Séminaire DISTAM-GT3
Towards a morphological study of medieval towns in North India
Saarthak Singh, École française d'Extrême-Orient (EFEO), Paris
le mardi 18 novembre 2025, 14h00 – 15h00 (heure française)
Studies of urbanism in medieval India remain restricted to questions of political economy derived from epigraphic sources or to idealised models offered by Sanskrit texts, without apprehending the spatial and physical characteristics of towns. In this context, this talk offers select case studies integrating spatial information from archaeological inventories, remote sensing, and field surveys within QGIS, as a first step towards a more holistic and comparative analysis of urban form.
