As part of a Franco-German project entitled CeramEgypt, the Centre d'Etudes Alexandrines has set out to study potters’ workshops that are still active in different parts of Egypt: along the Nile valley, in the Fayoum and in the Delta. At Edfina, near Alexandria, the workshop of Hagg Youssef mainly produces large-sized flower pots. His production is either bought directly by nursery gardeners or sold on in a large outlet in town.
