Map collection
The CEAlex map library holds over 2,000 maps and plans, both modern and historical, dating from the 16th to the 21st century. These include perspective views, nautical charts, topographical plans, cadastral plans, geological maps, tourist maps, insurance plans and, more recently, orthophoto plans and satellite maps.
The collection forms the documentary basis for the study of the historical cartography of Alexandria and the surrounding region, but it also contains maps of Egypt and plans and maps of other regions of Egypt, as well as regions of other Mediterranean countries (Greece, Italy, etc.).
Maps and plans can be consulted from Sunday to Thursday, 08:30 to 14:00 and from 15:00 to 16:30. Please make an appointment in writing to: topo@cea.com.eg.
